3 Months

My little man is growing by leaps and bounds everyday! He is constantly talking in his Christopher gibberish and has just recently started grabbing things! He has yet to turn over, but his favorite things right now are his fists and fingers and he is just starting to notice his feet. He is such a good baby and sleeps from 10pm to 5:30am! I couldn't ask for a better baby.

I quit breastfeeding at around 2 weeks. My blood pressure was very high after his birth and the medicine that they provided me with b/c I was breastfeeding had these awful side effects, including major headaches and my heart racing. It was just better for us to switch to formula and we have been happy ever since!

Sorry it has taken me so long to post! I have been back to work now for about 4 weeks now and everything is working out very smoothly. Christopher stays with various family members during the week so we are lucky that we don't have the big expense of daycare.

On another note, I just celebrated my 32nd birthday on Halloween. It was a great birthday spending time with Mark and my little man on his first Halloween. I will have to update soon with Halloween pictures.

AH! The Joys of Pregnancy!

I thought I would devote this post to the many joys of pregnancy that I have been experiencing. I've just read Jenny McCarthy's book, Belly Laughs, and realized that everything that she has written about is completely true and I so can relate. I highly recommend reading it for pure entertainment!

Okay, here goes:

1. Heartburn - I have experienced heartburn/acid reflux since I was 10 weeks pregnant and am coming to the realization that I will have it for the rest of my life. It is so bad that I am on 150mg of Zantac in the morning and before bed. To relieve these symptoms during the day (oh yes, I still get it during the work hours), I chew on Tums as needed. The doctor wanted me to limit them to no more than 3 a day, but sometimes I need to take more. I can honestly say that this is the worst symptom of pregnancy so far!!

2. Unexpected vomiting - Now that I am 32 weeks, I can feel that my stomach has become compressed and that I am unable to eat as much as I used to. Also to add to this, if I laugh strongly and violently (which I normally do everyday at work b/c my coworkers are very funny), I will start to cough violently, which leads to unexpected vomiting, which is very embarrassing if this is done in front of people. Don't get me wrong, I'm not talking alot of vomit, but enough to come out of your mouth and have to hold in your hands to avoid getting all over yourself. Just happened to me yesterday to be exact. It was not pretty! I also vomit every morning, not from morning sickness, but from gagging on my toothpaste. After having experienced the god awful dry heaves after brushing my teeth, I now drink some water before I brush so my stomach has something to give up. Sorry if TMI!

3. Constipation - Oh yes!! I can honestly say that I have never been constipated before or at least not this bad. I have resorted to Colace, which really helps out. As Jenny McCarthy puts it, it is like "passing Stonehenge" and she is right. Crazy!!

4. Numbness in legs - This only happens when I am lying down or sleeping. If I lay on one side for too long, my leg will go numb all the way up to my behind. Very uncomfortable. And trying to turn over to the other side is quite a feet when you have two cats laying all around you that won't move for nothing.

5. Tiredness - 1st trimester was terrible with the fatigue, 2nd trimester they say you get your energy back, which I did and now into 3rd trimester, I feel like I am back in 1st tri. I try to take a nap everyday after work for at least an hour and that seems to be working out for me.

Well there you have it! My top 5 joys of pregnancy. My heartburn is kicking in once again folks, need to close this post in search of my trusty bottle of Tums!

31 Weeks and Still Going Strong!

I had my 31 week appointment this past Monday to find out that my blood pressure went down, WOOHOO! That was the good news as well as finding out that Christopher is still 2 weeks behind, but consistently 2 weeks behind every time that I get measured, which means he's growing like a champ! Grow baby grow!

Now for the bad news. I have protein in my urine, which is linked to the early on stages of pre-eclampsyia/toxemia. So they had to take more blood work to be tested. As of today, I have not heard from the doctor, so to me that means the test was negative. No news is always good news from a doctor. Next appointment in 2 weeks, which puts us at June 1st.

Last week we went on our tour of the hospital and had our childbirth class. After experiencing both of these, reality has definitely set in. Having seen the delivery rooms and the nursery, I now realize that this is really happening. Don't get me wrong, I am not nervous, but very excited for the event that is soon to take place. It just seems like I have been pregnant forever and to finally see an end in sight is very exciting!! I can't wait to see who Christopher looks like and I can't wait to finally hold him. After being kicked and prodded for so long, I can't wait to see his little hands and feet. Will these next few weeks go by fast or slow?? I don't like to wish my life away like this, but the anticipation is killing me. Until next time!

Success and Hopefully Less Stress!

SUCCESS!! Two rooms down and 1 more to go! We have successfully moved our office into our old bedroom and vice versa last weekend. There are still things in boxes that need to be put into there proper places, but the bulk of the move is completed! Now I can totally put my focus on the nursery!!

Yesterday my Mom came over to help clean the nursery thoroughly. We cleaned the windows, walls, fan and hard woods. She brought over her super duper steam mop and steamed the floors and then we put 2 coats of wax on them. It looks so good! Now for decorating the walls and putting together the crib. Then we should be on our way.

We also received our first shower gift from my in-laws! An awesome glider that we registered for! It's super comfy and I think it will definitely be put to good use once Christopher arrives.

Hopefully with completing some of these big moves, my blood pressure will be lower on my next visit to the doctors. Here's hoping!

29 weeks and 11 more weeks to go!

Blood pressure is still high and I am still seeing my doctor every 2 weeks. Christopher is still measuring 2 weeks behind as well. A part of me doesn't really think he is 2 weeks behind though. Although I am not a doctor and I don't pretend to be, but I feel he is positioned more towards the back of my body as opposed to the front. Alot of women where I work who have given birth to boys explained to me that they were showing on the small side b/c boys position themselves differently. Whether or not there is any valid proof in this, I have no idea. But it makes sense that Christopher is positioned further back b/c he absolutely loves to play with my bladder throughout the day (I think it is his favorite thing to do!) Almost to the point where I literally think that I will pee my pants and when I get to the bathroom, hardly anything comes out. So when the doc does his "fundal" measurements, he is really only measuring the outside of my belly, not really knowing how the baby is positioned. Just my thoughts!

This weekend was a little stressful for me since we started moving our rooms around in the house to make room for Christopher. Perhaps this was the cause of my high blood pressure. My doctor asked me if my job was stressful and if I wanted him to write me a note out of work, but I declined b/c I have no idea what I would do with myself for 2 months away from work waiting for baby! I've already told myself that I will only go out on bedrest when the doctor no longer gives me the option. I think this whole BP thing is manageable and I am trying not to get myself so worked up over the little things. Hopefully this will work for my next appointment.

On another note, I can't believe I have only 11 more weeks to go!! Next week will be 30 weeks. Crazy!! From this point on I will focus on one week at a time, for the sake of my BP and my little Christopher. We need to keep him in there for as long as possible!!

28 Week Update

First let me start by saying that I passed my 1 hour gestational diabetes test with flying colors. Thanks to some advice from some of my other pregnant friends, I did not eat any carbs before the testing began. My doctor informed me that I was able to eat before this test, however, a few of my friends also ate and failed due to those pesky carbs that turn into sugar. So with advice in hand, I only ate eggs and cheese before my test. Worked like a charm.

On another note, I am being monitored for slightly high blood pressure. My doctor's appointments have changed from 4 weeks to 2 weeks now because of it. I also had some slight protein in my last urine testing, which could be an indication of toxemia/preeclampsia. Hence, more monitoring. I did some research and toxemia is quite common in first pregnancies. I just hope and pray that the blood pressure doesn't get too high, I can't imagine being put on bed rest and how that is going to affect my maternity leave in general.

Little Christopher is measuring about 2 weeks behind in his growth right now. The doctor may give me another ultrasound to see how he his progressing. At first I was very nervous about this news, but after getting some advice from the "Bump" girls, apparently this is quite common as well and babies grow at differing rates throughout different pregnancies. I think he is just a late bloomer, that's all!

Lots of moving going around with Christopher and rooms in our house for Christopher's arrival. Right now, the house is in total chaos, but it should be all put together by next week sometime.

27 weeks and Gestational Diabete Test

Well, I am 27 weeks this week and due for my Gestational Diabetes test tomorrow morning. I know it is nothing to be worried about, but I really do hope that I pass it. (Not like anyone else says, "I hope I fail it"), but you all know what I mean. I'll keep everyone posted on how it goes tomorrow and I really hope the sugary drink doesn't upset my heartburn!!

Finally an Updated Post After All This Time!!

Haven't updated in awhile and I apologize for that, but first trimester was not too good for me with the tiredness and sickness. I am now 21 weeks and have minimal sickness, major heartburn and less tiredness. I guess you have to take the good with the bad, huh? At 20 weeks, we found out that our little one is a BOY! M and I are super excited! His name is already picked out and will be Christopher Ian! Below are some pictures of our growing baby.

Baby Christopher's profile!

Baby Christopher's kick save as M refers to it. M is looking to teach and mentor a little hockey player!

Also to announce the news to both family's, I had everyone over our house for a Sunday breakfast last week. It was a big hit and as favors for coming to my breakfast, I baked sugar cookies and frosted them. They kind of resemble the Boston Red Sox logo but not intentionally. I really wanted to write "It's a Boy", but with my lack of decorating skills, I chose to just do the "B"!

I hope to get some belly pictures up soon to document my progress. So stay tuned!

M & N are expecting!!

So some of you know that M & I have been TTC. Well, the day is finally here! I tested postive on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 5:30am. I have been charting for about 3 months on Fertility Friend, so I have been getting up at 5:30 every morning to take my Basal Body Temperature. My chart signified that I should test on the 15th is "aunt flow" had not arrived and my temperatures were high. So I did!! And...VOILA!!

Since this took place yesterday, I haven't had time to contact my doctor. I will contact her on Monday and hopefully be able to have a professional's confirmation. Keep you all posted!!
