Memorial day weekend = home improvement projects. With that said, M and I never seem to get along when working together on projects. It always ends up in an argument due to frustration. Frustration from wanting the project done ASAP! Which brings me to today!
Today was different. I was working on taking wallpaper down from our downstairs bathroom and he was working on scrapping the foundation and deck for repainting. Out of the blue, I receive a little attitude from my loving husband. It started like this:
M: When are we eating lunch?
N: You know, you could make lunch too sometime as we are both busy at the moment.
Then I receive the look! You know that look of death, of pure hatred that screams "don't start with that".
N: How about spaghetti and meatballs?
As I start to get the spaghetti and meatballs out to cook,
M: Forget it, I'll eat this
As he pulls a package of Ramen Noodles out of the cabinet, then storms upstairs. I found out after about 10 minutes that he went upstairs to take a nap, so after I eat lunch (spaghetti and meatballs), I too, take a nap on the couch. I awake to him coming downstairs and returning to scrapping the deck. I then continue to work on the bathroom.
M comes back into the house, grabs his keys and leaves. Now that is unusual....he always tells me where he is going so I definitely know that he his still mad.
I continue to work on the bathroom. He returns a short while later. I finish up with the bathroom to find him laying on the couch watching the race. I kindly ask him:
N: Where did you go?
M: To get something to eat....didn't know I had to check in.
N: (now fuming)...What is your problem?
pause for about 2 minutes (which probably was about 45 seconds)
M: Nothing.
And that is where I am at....I think I deserve an apology....I don't deserve to be spoken to like that. We are now in silent treatment mode.
Perhaps it was my fault for suggesting he make his own lunch...but deep down inside I know it's not that. Perhaps he's upset because I finished my project and he is still working on his? Here I am thinking it's going to be a good weekend because we are not working on the same project, but we are still miserable. It's a lose-lose situation!
