A Little Organization

I don't know about you, but I have some difficulty keeping things organized. For example, I will get into an "organizing" mood and organize certain cabinets or areas in the house and by the end of the week, everything is in disarray again. But this time, I decided to purchase some handy-dandy (and cheap) baskets to help me organize under our kitchen sink area. Ultimately, I would love to get those slide out wire racks that Home Depot and Lowe's sells, but at this time, those are a little too expensive for our budget. I purchased the white baskets that you will see below from the Dollar Store for....yes, you guessed it, a dollar each! And what a difference these baskets make! I realized that once I went through everything that was under our sink, I had duplicates of most items. Now with these baskets, I hope to avoid duplication in the future.

The mess before!

The after! What a difference and a simple solution.

I also cleaned out our spice cabinet as well. Sorry, I don't have any before pictures to present to you, however, picture a cabinet full of spices and not being able to see what spice was behind the other. Once I cleaned that out, I was left with multiple duplications of most of my spices (b/c I had no idea what spices were in my cabinet to begin with) and more room to store other things. I decided to turn my spice cabinet into a spice drawer instead. That way I could see all my spices at once. I also purchased some glass salt and pepper shakers from IKEA and filled them up with the spices that I used most. I then made labels off of my computer and labeled each jar accordingly. For the rest of the spices that I do not use most often, or for the extra spices that would not fit into my glass jars, I simply stored them away in a shoe box in my kitchen appliance cabinet for future use.

A little organization does go along way!
