We all need to be more educated on what is truly in our household products. This has definitely been a wake-up call to me and my family!
The Balancing Act
I am a mother to a beautiful toddler trying to balance out a full-time job with home life. I hope to use this blog to document my trials and tribulations.

Go Green - Now Is The Time!
Holy Crap!!
I just purchased some all natural, affordable, plant-based household products last week. I did this because the other day, when I opened my dishwasher to put away the dishes, there was Christopher, climbing all over the door, playing with the tiny trap where the dishwasher soap goes, rubbing his eyes, and putting his fingers in his mouth. My immediate reaction to this was, "OMG! Did all of the bleach really get washed away from my Cascade Power Pacs?"..."..will he be blinded if he keeps rubbing his eyes, or perhaps poisoned by putting his fingers in his mouth?" Same reaction took place this past weekend when I was cleaning the bathroom. "Did I wash all of the Borax off of the bathroom floor?" "Will the cats be okay if they drink out of my Lysol'd toilet?", "Do I even know the phone number to Poison Control??" (The answer to that last question was "NO!!)
I didn't want to worry anymore, so I researched online and I have found my new products. No more Lysol, no more bleach, no more Borax, no more worrying. These products are so safe that they don't even have child-proof caps on them! That means, no more having to worry about those harmful chemicals locked up under the kitchen sink. Now, I don't mean that Christopher is free to play with these products. I just mean that it is one less worry that I have to have with him. And it's one less worry that I have to have of me contributing to the harmful waste that is being dumped in our drinking water, soil and oceans daily.
Some of you may have the same concerns as I do about your children, pets and/or environment. If you do and are looking for a go-green approach, let me know. I will be glad to share my experiences with these awesome products with you.

Finally Able to Breathe...
...holy hell, the holidays were extremely busy for us and I have had no time to update. Hopefully, things will start to slow down and I can make time for myself again. My poor coupon's have been thrown by the wayside and my binder a mess. I must get back to that ASAP. I have vowed in the new year not to purchase anything if not on sale or only if I have a coupon.
We had a fabulous Christmas. Christopher was so fun to watch this year. Last year, he was only 5 months old and had no idea what was going on. But this year, he loved the xmas tree, the lights outside, the music, the christmas figurines on our mantel, everything that had to do with Christmas. He especially loved watching Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer over and over again...one of my personal favorites as well! Everyday is like Christmas all over again, b/c as soon as he sees all of his toys in the morning, he claps and gets very excited about them all.over.again. Too cute!
Hoping 2011 is a much better year than 2010. I started 2010 on a medical leave from work due to high blood pressure, then within a week of that leave having to have my gallbladder removed due to gallstones and then losing my job all in the same day! Luckily I was able to find another job within 3 weeks, but not a suitable job for me. I was blessed enough to find my current job and I have settled in nicely here. Wishing for a healthy and financially sound start to 2011!
Hoping to post some new pic's of Christopher real soon.

Happy 3rd Anniversary to Us!!
Three years ago, on November 24, 2007, I became a Mrs.! I can't even explain the way I feel about how my life has changed from that day forward. It has been exciting, rewarding, frustrating, stressful, kind, beautiful and much, much more. In trying not to sound too cliche...I honestly wouldn't change it for the world.
Happy Anniversary to Us!!

I think I have figured it out....
...meaning housework that is! I have been struggling to find a way to get the important things done, i.e. food, laundry, house-cleaning, etc. so that I won't be totally exhausted after every...single...day. Just this week, I think I have figured it out.
Many of you know that I have started freezing my meals for the week. This has been a huge help!! So huge, I can't even explain it. Just by taking one day...usually a Saturday or Sunday and making batches of meals for the weeks ahead has probably saved me 1hr to 1.5hrs after I get home from work. HUGE!! I just pop the meal in the oven for 30 minutes and while that is cooking, I am cleaning up the dishes from the morning and tidying up. After dinner, there is really no cleanup since all I really have to do is rinse the dishes that were used and place them in the dishwasher. HUGE!!
Just this past week I have resorted to doing 1 load of laundry every night. I would usually do all the laundry over a weekend, never any during the weekday. Now that I sit here, on a Saturday morning typing this blog, I realize what a HUGE time saver this has been. Today...I have NO laundry to do!! I am totally caught up and probably won't have to start another load until Tuesday night! HUGE help!! Which leads me to house-cleaning...
Since my meals are done & frozen for next week...I spent the prior weekend making up to 2 weeks worth...I can now focus on the housework. I have already vacuumed our downstairs level, while Christopher followed me around every room pushing his toy train like a vacuum cleaner...have I mentioned that I adore this age?!! I just need to focus on cleaning our bathrooms this weekend...that...is...it!!
Now...what am I going to do with myself?? I have this weekend free. First, I think I will shower. That sounds like a plan. Second, maybe I will catch up on that book that I was reading. I don't know!!
Well, I better go enjoy my time while Christopher is napping!
I leave you with another picture of my handsome little man.

Rite Aid Savings...Again!
I scored BIG again with the sale at Rite Aid last week and the coupons that I had in my trusty coupon binder. I saved $12.95 and spent only $9.99!! I love saving money and I have vowed to never pay full price for anything ever again...if I can help it. Here's what I got for my $9.99:
2 - 15 count Cascade Action Pac Dishwasher Cubes - originally priced at $4.99 each, but on sale for 2/$6.00. I had a $1.00 off 2 coupon resulting in a cost of $5.00 total!!
1 - Gain Dish Soap - originally priced at $1.49, but on sale for $.89. I had a $1.00 off coupon resulting in a cost of $0.00 FREE!!
1 - Herbal Essence Color Me Happy Shampoo - originally priced at $4.49, but on sale for 2/$5.00. I had a $1.00 off coupon for one resulting in a cost of $1.50.
2 - Rite Aid Saline Solutions - originally priced at $3.49 each, but on sale for BOGO resulting in a cost of $3.49 for 2.
There you have it!
Now that they started their new "Wellness Card" program, just like CVS, you can get some awesome coupons attached to your receipt. I ended up with a 10% Shopping Pass good thru 12/31/10 and a $1.00 off coupon for any non-prescription purchase good thru 10/30/10! These will definitely help us out later on!
